At Harrisburg University, we have all apartment-style living. So from the first year to when you graduate, you have an apartment. Every apartment comes fully furnished with furniture, there's WiFi, full kitchen --So that means a microwave, dishwasher, full fridges... Part of our residential living component and the education that we provide is how to prepare the student post-college. So when you're coming into HU, and you're living in our housing, you learn roommate management and how to communicate with each other doing the budgeting, doing money management, and you're cooking for yourself. So you're learning those skills. So we call this the Independent Living Model. So we train you on these things and prepare students. While in the housing and the campus here I feel really safe. To enter into the university you need your student ID which makes it safe because no one walking outside where anyone else can try to get into the building. The residence halls are right across from the HU building. There are no more than five minutes walk in any direction pretty much. There is Cat transit, which is the local buses. They run pretty much everywhere you can think of. Amtrak is right there. Also, you can get a ticket and go to pretty much anywhere at this point. As a Resident Assistant, we have what we call "Resident Dialogues," and we have a set of questions about where they're from, their age, their major, what are their likes and dislikes. What they would like to see more of as the semester continues? That kind of stuff. And not only helps us when we're planning events. It helps to really like build community.
